As part of its remit SACCA aimed to help the Scottish higher education system engage with developments in Europe surrounding credit and qualifications, including the Bologna process and its qualification framework for the European Higher Education Area and the European Commission's European Qualification Framework. This work will now be done by QAA Scotland and Universities Scotland.

Both QAA Scotland and Universities Scotland offer support in a number of ways including co-ordinating responses for consultations, holding seminars to discuss particular issues with regard to Europe and the dissemination of information. Recent seminars have discussed issues such as the European Diploma Supplement and Joint Degrees.

The UK Higher Education Europe Unit website contains up-to-date information including a useful Guide to the Bologna Process.

In September 2007, QAA Scotland and Universities Scotland ran a one day conference entitled "Scotland and Europe: Toward 2010" The event attracted a wide audience from the Scottish higher education sector and beyond. Fiona Hyslop, the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Professor Andrew Hamnett, Principal of the University of Strathclyde were among those who gave plenaries. The papers for this event can be found here.

As part of its work SACCA was involved in the self-certification of the higher education part of SCQF against the Bologna Qualification Framework.
